Words To Eat #1: I Would Not Consider A Mac
Welcome to a new series here at my blog where I will eat the words of statements said in the past…pertaining to my personal life. Nice try you commie left wing…just kidding.
But seriously, I think it’s time to highlight the many times where I said I would never do that, and thenI went ahead and did it anyway either because God directed my path in that direction or I sat back thought about and did the research. As far as a path being directed by God, two examples. First off, I said that I would never be a cashier ever again after my tour as a cashier at Giant Food which last all of two months. Not only did I wind up being a cashier at Wal-Mart after starting in the toy department, but went on
to be a leader in the store. I don’t mean as far as management, I mean as far as working in the cash office as an Accounting Office Associate. Not much power in the position, but it was a very important role nevertheless.
Another example of a God directed path was me purchasing my car last year. I had vowed that I would never deal with Brown’s Arlington Nissan after they made me and my father wait around for two hours making us think I had gotten bank approval. About a month later, not only did I get my car (a green 2001 Nissan Altima, thank you very much), but I got it for $1,000 less. Point of lesson, Follow God. Word to you atheists and agnostics, God exists and Jesus is Lord.
All of that by way of intro leads me to words I must now eat number 1…I said I would never consider a Mac.
I’m conservative, not a stiff…
I’ll be honest, the title of this had to be shorten. The full title/statement will be given at the end.
I am amazed at the number of people, mostly if not all black people, who think that because I am an openly Black conservative who is a registered Republican, I am stiff who is out of touch with society, black issues, current trends and so on and so on. It’s one thing to joke about it (and I do) but it’s completely different to actually believe that crap.
Let’s start with the time back in October, when I sat in as sub-host for the professional black guy in Baltimore, by the way at the behest of his co-hort, when the aforementioned co-hort asked someone to give a quick motivation talk on the spot. I said, “make it hot.” They were shocked, as if I normally do not say such slang on a normal basis. People who know me, know that I am good to utter slang, in addition to cultural and historical references. For the record, I refuse to accept the title of folksy. Folksy is a term that is usually reserved for politicians. I happen to notice that it’s description of a politician coincides with a politican that is full of it.
There have been a couple of times when I say stuff that I would normally say, and people stop and stare and act as if I had turned Black all of a sudden. I didn’t turn Black all of a sudden, I was always Black. Which leads into my overall mantra, define yourself. Allow me to give some background that cause my definition.
