President Obama on the passing of Wizards owner Abe Polin
from the Associated Press:
“Abe believed in Washington, D.C., when many others didn’t — putting his own fortune on the line to help revitalize the city he loved. He was committed to the teams he guided, generous to those who needed it most, and as loyal to the people of D.C. as they were to him.”
Be Thankful
When I was a kid, my mom bought me and my sister a video (VHS for the record) of kids singing praise songs…now that I think about it, I wonder if mom still has that video. She could play it for my nephew, but I digress. On the video was a song called “Be Thankful.” I tried finding it on YouTube, but to no avail; so you will have to read this rant without any visuals. Don’t worry, I will make it worth while at the end.
“Just Keep On Moving…”
ROSSLYN, VIRGINIA – I broke a new protocol today that I established by parking at my dad’s house and then walking over to the metro station by where he lives. I am going to pay for parking when I leave work this evening.
Here’s the long story short, Federal Triangle on the Blue and Orange Line temporarily closed. As per standard operating procedure, metro fails to properly inform us what is going on, never mind the fact that the shuttle buses they were going to organize between Smithsonian and Farragut West was going to completely bypass Metro Center, where we were.
The station manager did not have any answers for those of us that were heading to Virginia. The next thing you know when she went to her kiosk, here comes the Blue Line train. A number of us starting trotting to the lower level so we wouldn’t miss it.
The train operator once the train pulled out of Metro Center said, “The Temptations had a song for situations like this, ‘Keep On Moving.’ I apologize about the delay, we had a serious situation on a train at Federal Triangle which caused the track that I was on to close. We had to work around it, so if you are late, I apologize and you can blame ol’ Darrell.”
At that point you couldn’t help but to laugh, especially when he came back on after pulling out of McPherson Square and said, “If you hear two radio’s in the background, that’s me communicating with you as well as another radio in touch with central command. This way I can pass on any information to you if they decide to change their minds.”
Darrell if you are reading this, I will not blame you for anything, but God Bless You and your honesty sir.
