Kevin Dayhoff is a former Mayor of Westminster, Maryland, a town in addition to being the county seat of government for Carroll County, which is apart of the Baltimore Metropolitan Area (also known as Central Maryland).  He is also a co-contributor to Red Maryland, a columnist for The Westminster Eagle and a friend of mine…even though we have not seen each other face to face…yet.  This morning on his own blog he was talking about Mr. West which was also a version was published in the Eagle:

“I can’t wait to read the reaction of my colleague and good friend, Kenny Burns, who is my resident Kanye West authority. Read, “Red Maryland: Memo to Kanye: Liberals Do Not Care About People, period,” By P. Kenneth Burns, the editor of Maryland Politics Today. After I read Burns’ column, I was pondering; gee, I wonder how he really feels. Were you holding back on us Mr. Burns?”

He ended it by saying:

“So, maybe we should feel sorry for him, because he is obviously not a well man – a victim, if you will?
Nah, the guy’s a troll. What say you, Mr. Burns – take it away… And don’t hold back.”

Well…Mr. Dayhoff…or should I say, Mr. Mayor, like to hear it, here we go….

When did VH1 cared about Hip Hop?

October 5, 2008 · Posted in Music, Television · Comment

Way back when…as recently as seven years ago, VH1 was a music channel for adults or yuppie white people (depending what is being aired.) This would explain me. MTV, BET and the now defunct-Jukebox Network were banned for me until I was 13. As much as I want to say , “MY MOM SUCKS! SHE WOULDN’T LET ME LISTEN TO NWA WHEN I WAS 10!” I cannot do such a thing. For one thing, my mom doesn’t suck, she is a great woman never mind the fact that it would be a lie. It probably helped me to be so appreciative of the creative arts in general, and appreciate music, not whatever the record companies want to promote posing as music.

That not withstanding, I have to ask when did VH1 start caring about rap in hip-hop? Seriously, this is suppose to be the network for those who are trying to avoid hip-hop. You mean that all they did was hire a has been hype man then all of a sudden they’re down with the Wu-Tang Clan? Pardon me if I say bullcrap.

This is further evidenced by their list of 100 hip hop songs which are allegedly the greatest of all time. By the way, big up to Jeff for pointing this out. This is a list of songs (for all intents) that suburban wanna be ganstas would rock in their boxes. This list does not even try to go deep enough in the past.

Here is the list.
